Child Safety Legislation EN13120

All of our blinds will comply with the
new legislation EN13120 all of our
roman blinds will be supplied with child
safety instructions and warning notices.
These instructions and notices will help
you to supply and fit a safe blind.

All of our Roman Blinds will be
manufactured so the cord that raises
and drops the blind will run through
breakaway cord guides. These
breakaway cord guides will be on the
bottom two tapes of the Roman Blind.
These cords will breakaway with a
weight of 6kg.

This legislation will not apply to blinds
which are to be installed in commercial
buildings where it is unlikely that a young
child will come into contact with them.

1. If fixing height unknown
– Blind drop ≤ 2.5 metres, the chain length must be ≤ 1 metre.
– Blind drop > 2.5 metres, the chain length must be drop of blind minus 1.5 metres.

2. If fixing height known
All blind drop sizes, distance between floor and bottom of chain must be greater than 1.5 metres.

3. Cord tidy
Affix cord tidy to wall at the maximum distance possible from the control mechanism ensuring all operating cords are taut (chain no more than 50mm apart at entry/exit of cord tidy).

1. If fixing height unknown
– Blind drop ≤ 2.5 metres, the chain length must be maximum 2/3 blind drop.
– Blind drop > 2.5 metres, the chain length must be maximum 2/3 blind drop.

2. If fixing height known
All blind drop sizes, distance between the floor and the bottom of chain must be greater than 0.6 metres.

3. Chain must be fitted with
2 x Easybreak connectors 200mm apart
The chain will break apart when excessive force is exerted on the chain.
